Indivisible Truth Brigade 2025 Plan [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-12-14 The 2025 plan for the Indivisible Truth Brigade is centered on prebunking the disinformation that is spewed forth by paid professional denialists, and showing its victims how to penetrate the lies and find the truth. The basis for all prebunking is the old Roman legal question “Cui bono?”/Who benefits? The problem, as I personally see it, comes with those who WANT to be lied to in defense of unearned and unmerited privilege: The privilege of the ultra-rich to become ultra-richer. The privilege of corporations to be deregulated. The privilege of their racist, misogynistic, nativist, even Christian Nationalist followers to pretend that God made them superior to others, and to wreck the government and the economy and everything else in sight in the hope that THOSE PEOPLE will all get hurt worse. We don’t and can’t share common ground with the most vicious haters and determined liars. But they are a solid minority, so we can and do claim common ground with everyone else. Today’s Message to Share “No matter our views, most people value truth and dignity. With that in mind this holiday season, take a moment to imagine a future where truth is fashionable and honest players work hard for everyone’s health and wellbeing. We can get there. Stay strong, dear humans.” #TruthBrigade What and Why As the holiday season arrives, many of us are finding it hard to fully embrace joy and hope. Instead, there’s an undercurrent of fear about the challenges ahead, particularly the increase in disinformation we know will come in the new year. It’s easy to feel weighed down, wondering if the work we’re doing is enough in the face of so much division and hostility. We should remember, though, that we are the same people we were a few months ago. Humans are complex and, unfortunately, sometimes persuaded that solutions to societal challenges will be found in the wrong places, and can be brought by the bad actors who often contributed to the problems to begin with. This is not new. Our brains are designed to interpret repeated information as “true,” and to categorize groups of people as “other.” Humans also, as a rule, value truth, empathy and caring for one another. Humans, as a rule, even value equity. Our vital work to push back against divisive lies and power-grabbing have made a real, measurable difference, and will continue to do so. Thousands of people, in conversation and in social media, planting seeds of mutual understanding, empowering others to think critically, and standing firm against destructive narratives is no small accomplishment, and it deserves celebration. As we close out the year, we want to encourage you to find reasons for joy and hope. These moments of light aren’t distractions—they are the fuel that will bring us resilience and fortitude for what lies ahead. Hope isn’t naive; it’s powerful. It allows us to keep going, to keep believing, and to keep building toward the future we know is possible. To help spread this message, we’re sharing a hopeful, uplifting message you can personalize and share with your own friends and family. Use it as a reminder to the people around you—and yourself—that joy, hope, and resilience are the antidotes to fear and division. Together, we can face the challenges of the new year with strength and determination. Thank you for all you’ve done this year, and for all you will continue to do. Wishing you a season filled with light, rest, and hope. Truth Sandwich Examples Holiday Hope Discover Common Values: The holiday season is a time to reflect and prepare for what lies ahead. Let’s keep sharing truth and love. #TruthBrigade” “I’m going to continue standing up for my values next year - join me. #TruthBrigade” GRAPHICS Find these Indivisible graphics here GIFs! AMPLIFY A note about social media As Twitter self-destructs, other platforms such as Bluesky and Threads are gaining momentum. We recommend: Stick with social media if that’s comfortable for you. Focus on a few platforms to avoid overwhelm. Build your reputation as a trusted messenger within your network. Post regularly, and use our Disinfo-Busters to create a reputation as a credible source of information. Take advantage of the means at hand on each platform to increase your visibility. Different platforms have different opportunities, whether it’s tagging influencers, commenting on influencer posts, or joining groups with like interests. Try out new platforms, like Linkedin, or even Reddit. If you’re not comfortable, stop. Consider leaning into Facebook. It’s still where most people find information.
