GOP’s War on Fish and Shellfish is Going Great

The Trump administration will do everything it can in an attempt to DESTROY the Clean Water Act and all regulations that exist to protect the public’s wildlife and other natural resources from any "development." It has described what it will do in its 900 page "Project 2025." Initially, that means replacing all the top career professionals in the agencies (54,000 total throughout the government) with unqualified MAGAs, such as those criminals now in prison for storming the Capitol and attacking Congress to try to actually steal the election on January 6th. Doing that is their easiest way to sabotage those laws and destroy those agencies from within.

The Clean Water Act and its wetlands provisions, spelled out in its “404 regulations,” is the federal law that was carefully designed to protect fish and all other species dependent for their survival on those waters and wetlands (which includes pretty much all species both aquatic and terrestrial, including grizzly bears and even birds like eagles). Three agencies, the EPA, the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service, share responsibility with overlapping jurisdictions for using that law (and many others like the National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, etc.) to protect the nation’s natural resources (jointly with state counterparts) throughout every watershed (pictured in the comments) and all our coastal waters. These 3 are usually ganging up on the US Army Corps of Engineers which was given the authority by Congress to decide whether to give federal approval of almost all proposed developments affecting any of those waters and wetlands.

This includes laws that protect ALL fish and shellfish species both freshwater and marine and their habitats, including any species you might care about seeing while skin diving, pursuing as sport fishermen or enjoying at a quality restaurant (such as king or sockeye salmon, scallops, shrimp, stone crabs claws, lobster, halibut, trout, steelhead, walleye, largemouth bass, bonefish, permit, snook, grouper, snappers, blue crabs, bay scallops, oysters, razor clams, redfish, rockfish, etc., etc. - everything.

But, thanks to this disastrous election, they and their habitats will no longer be protected by the federal government from industry's myriad destroyers - polluters, coastal real estate developers, marsh destroyers for oil access canals, channel dredgers, port developers, refinery operators, oil and gas drillers, river diverters, dam builders, streamside logging industries, etc. that will soon be totally free to destroy any and all essential coastal and riverine habitats and their adjacent wetlands.
