Waylon Jennings (1937 — 2002, RIP) was a country music performer, known for being a leader in ‘outlaw country’, a genre that went outside the typical three-chord 4/4 tempo country style. He worked with Willie Nelson and others in that genre. But perhaps his most remembered aspect was that he gave up his seat, on the plane that crashed in 1959 with Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Richie Valens. aka The Day The Music Died (Don McLean, American pie).
