European Federation of Journalists to stop posting content on X. www.thelondoneconomic.com/… The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) has announced that it will stop publishing content on Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, from January 20th, 2025, when Donald Trump will officially become the 47th president of the United States. The organisation stated that it can “no longer ethically participate in a social network that its owner has transformed into a machine of disinformation and propaganda”. It joins The Guardian and other European media outlets including Dagens Nyheter, La Vanguardia, Ouest-France and Sud-Ouest in coming off the platform, due to the impact of Musk on the organisation. The EFJ is the largest organisation of journalists in Europe, representing over 295,000 journalists in 44 countries has announced that it will stop posting content on X. === Of course, the irony that my next post is a link to X is not lost on me. I'm weaning myself away, really. Exactamundo Jack! x Call me when Hunter gets $2 billion from the Saudis or appointed ambassador to France. — Jack E. I'm sure these are considered assets in certain circles. Thank you Jane Mayer, this is how journalism is done. Pete Hegseth’s Secret History. www.newyorker.com/... ✂️ A previously undisclosed whistle-blower report on Hegseth’s tenure as the president of Concerned Veterans for America, from 2013 until 2016, describes him as being repeatedly intoxicated while acting in his official capacity—to the point of needing to be carried out of the organization’s events. The detailed seven-page report—which was compiled by multiple former C.V.A. employees and sent to the organization’s senior management in February, 2015—states that, at one point, Hegseth had to be restrained while drunk from joining the dancers on the stage of a Louisiana strip club, where he had brought his team. The report also says that Hegseth, who was married at the time, and other members of his management team sexually pursued the organization’s female staffers, whom they divided into two groups—the “party girls” and the “not party girls.” In addition, the report asserts that, under Hegseth’s leadership, the organization became a hostile workplace that ignored serious accusations of impropriety, including an allegation made by a female employee that another employee on Hegseth’s staff had attempted to sexually assault her at the Louisiana strip club. In a separate letter of complaint, which was sent to the organization in late 2015, a different former employee described Hegseth being at a bar in the early-morning hours of May 29, 2015, while on an official tour through Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, drunkenly chanting “Kill All Muslims! Kill All Muslims!” === From commentator Charlie Sykes: The Pete Hegseth grift is... chef's kiss perfect. bsky.app/… === Best self own ever': Trump pick gets brutal reminder over slam on 'unelected bureaucrats'. www.rawstory.com/… Failed presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was hit with severe pushback on Sunday after railing against "the unelected federal bureaucracy" on social media. Donald Trump appointed Ramaswamy, who lost the GOP primary against the current president-elect, to help run a new group called the Department of Governmental Efficiency, or simply, DOGE. On Sunday, Ramaswamy took to social media to say, "The real 'threat to our democracy' is the unelected federal bureaucracy." David Sirota, founder, owner, and editor-in-chief of The Lever, said, "You have already launched and are reportedly staffing a department of the United States government that has never actually been created or authorized by any statute enacted by the democratically elected Congress of the United States." Then theres this. Yup, thats trash pedal (h/t Carlsbad Dave) === Thanks for the reminder Rep. Crockett! Some people haven't been listening. Dick Durbin (D-IL) reminded Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) that he once refused to give Merrick Garland's Supreme Court nomination a hearing after the Kentucky lawmaker suggested Republicans were being treated unfairly with current judicial nominations. I listened carefully to my colleague from Kentucky explain his concerns about the filling of four circuit court vacancies," Durbin said. "And he raises a question about whether that's fair." "Well, I'd like to call the Senate's attention to the fact that there was a moment in time when we were shocked to learn that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia had died while on a hunting trip," he continued. "And the decision was made almost instantly by the Senator from Kentucky, the same Senator who just talked about delaying and filling vacancies." "The decision was made by him not to fill the Supreme Court vacancy." The video in the article is embedded via Rumble, so you'll have to click the link to watch. === Evening Shade Seekers!
