Another Saturday Night - The Essentials [1]

So I finally saw the movie Ghost World a couple weeks ago. Steve Buscemi plays an avid collector of 78’s and at one point, his character drops this line:

What the “essentials” are is never explicitly defined in the movie, but it was enough to prompt me to use it as tonight’s theme. How you define the essentials—the music you can’t live without, the best/greatest music, or some other definition—is up to you. Personally, I went with the first definition, as music is an art form, and art either speaks to you or it doesn’t.

Thomas Jefferson once said, “I cannot live without books.”
