Linda McMahon - Secretary of Education - another brick in the wall [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-11-20 Linda McMahon was the Administrator of the Small Business Administration under Trump's first administration. She's married to Vince McMahon who was the CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment. Also known as fake wrestling. Vince is currently the subject of a federal probe of sex trafficking and sexual assault. Getting really classy people here. I know it's guilt by association, but she is married to the guy. And she was in business with him forming WWE. In 2009 she left to run for the Senate from Connecticut but lost to Democrat Richard Blumenthal. December 7th, a day that will live in infamy, 2016, Trump nominated her to be the Administrator of the Small Business Administration. March 29th, 2019, Trump announced McMahon would step down from the administrative position and on April 15th she was named the chairwoman of America First Action, a pro Trump super PAC. All that remains at the Small Business Administration is a general affirmation of wanting to do good for small businesses and eight pages of some very short blogs. So we have no idea what her accomplishments were at the SBA, or if there were really any at all. Now Trump wants her to be the Secretary of Education. Let's look at his previous Secretary of Education. That was Betsy DeVos. "Betsy DeVos has been a disaster for public education from day one," is what the Pennsylvania State Education Association had to say about her. And they were being nice. I'll just put a link to the web page. But wait, there's more. Sen. Al Franken grilled Betsy at her confirmation hearing. Yes, the Saturday Night Live writer, actor and then Senator, who had to resign because of some inappropriate behavior that came to light. Now everyone says he should have gotten a hearing in the Senate over the charges. Anyway, here's 8 minutes of him just frustrated as hell trying to get answers. If you can handle it, here's 42 minutes. If Betsy's term as Secretary of Education was a disaster, what are we expecting from Linda McMahon? Trump and his minions and Project 2025 have all promised that they're going to get rid of the Department of Education and take some parts and put them into other agencies. Is the plan for McMahon to destroy the department from within, and this is just a temporary post? Or is she really supposed to change policies and destroy the current K12 system and defund federal funding to colleges that they feel don't tow the line, like MIT, Penn, and Harvard at the hearings about Palestinian protests in 2023? It didn't stop there. May of 2024 saw the president's of UCLA, Rutgers and Northwestern get the same treatment. Just like Betty, she'll support school vouchers. This allows a parent to send their child to a private school on the taxpayer's dollar. In addition to that, the school can have a religious affiliation like being Catholic. This will cause public school enrollment to drop, schools will have to be closed, and children bused from long distances away to fill up classrooms that stay open. She'll cut teacher pay at public schools, instead of increasing it, so we get less qualified teachers. Money for school supplies will be reduced so parents have to buy more, and teachers who currently help out of their own salaries, also have to help out more because they care. She'll get those school chaplains in place for counseling so children can be indoctrinated into Christian nationalism at school as well as home. Wherever there is bilingual education, she'll stop it and only English is used. Kids who start their lives speaking Spanish won't learn like their English speaking counterparts. That's just one language of a dozen schools use to teach. There will be a nationwide effort to put Ten Commandments posters in every public school room even though it's been shown to be unconstitutional in every case. Teaching from the Bible will be incorporated into classroom teaching, and then found unconstitutional. But they will try. This is a link to a PDF called "Woke Schooling" that deals with all the attacks on K12 schools. At first read, it almost sounds like they're the good guys. They're not. This is from the South Carolina Office of the Inspector General. Anything that is deemed woke or DEI, will be attacked. Critical race theory will be banned even though it isn't taught in K12 schools. Slavery's importance in history teaching will be reduced so white children don't feel bad. Book banning will go beyond the current campaign against books dealing with gender identity. Economics will only teach about the goals of protectionism and how bad globalist thinking is. Civics classes will stop teaching about how goverment works and instead teach about how they want it to work. Teachers will no longer have tenure and instead be graded on what is determined to be merit accomplisments. Federal funding to colleges and universities will be dolled out according to compliance to new policies that eliminate woke practices and DEI. The Supreme Court got rid of affirmative action, which had been working for 60 years. Don't think they aren't just waiting for a case to come across their docket upon which to rule. The anti-DEI faction will turn higher education into a white only experience, changing the educational makeup across the nation so minorities go back to their days of oppression and suppression. Funding for higher education that goes to scientific and technology advancements will dwindle. Grants for specific projects will disappear. We have to rely on businesses for profit for new ideas. This is the Republican plan for education. The fact that Trump has made a nomination makes me believe they're not going to eliminate the Department of Education. At least not right away. When they have achieved their goals, then it makes sense. We'll just have to watch Linda McMahon, if she is confirmed, for the tell tail signs by her actions.
