[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-11-20 This is a query about online petitions. I truly don’t know the answer and am curious. First of all, I receive the daily DK rec list email. Kudos! I am a monthly DK donor. Join me. Now to my question. Every day I get emails from DK and others asking me to sign online petitions. I would like to know: How do online petitions work? It seems like some requests are duplicates. What if I accidentally sign one twice through two different email sources? Are duplicate signatures weeded out before delivery? It seems like some of these petitions are perpetually in gather mode. (I could be wrong.) Do the petition gatherers commit to delivering the petitions to lawmakers at a particular point in time, or do they wait till they have gathered their goal number of signatures? Does someone actually print out the list of names and walk a stack of paper into a lawmaker’s office? If that’s not the actual process, what is?
