Lost Boys [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-11-14 For nearly a decade DJT captured the imagination of boys and young men. He has been their role model. His influence has created a dearth of acceptable suitors. They are lost. The American home front had a gender imbalance similar to this during WWII. While my dad was in the service, my mother worked at a petroleum refinery. There was tension between men who worked at the refinery and the young women who filled work positions for the men who were overseas. The home front men disliked having to accept female coworkers. The women, whose husbands and lovers were in harm’s way didn’t think much of their coworkers either. Mom told me, “The men were overseas; what was left were too young, too old or synthetics.” This song captures the spirit of the times from the women’s point of view. I’m told it is unlikely that hateful young men will be able to escape the social pressures that makes them so hostile to women. Meanwhile normal guys have become uncommon - and hard to find. No doubt, it is a difficult time to be young. Inspired by the weirdest of presidential pics, many old people, have so meddled in the affairs of young people that the days of romance can hardly be recalled. That is unforgivable. The malignant president elect and his flying monkeys have drowned out songs like this.
