A poem for hard times [1]

As many of you know I haven’t posted on here in a long time..like everyone, this election took a toll on me..,but I’ve been thinking and working on a poem for a while that I hope will bring a little peace to those afraid like me…

HOPE…..a poem

what is this thing called hope

hope..:the dreams of many…the dreams of all

without hope we are lost

with hope we have a chance

Let us in these times remember those who fought the good fight

fought…:remember…dream

think of MLK who fought for civil rights

think of Jimmy Stewart who served his country..

think of Honest Abe who saved the Union……

union….remain United…remain one nation

think of Harriet Tubman who helped the slaves find freedom

freedom….sweet freedom…..

think of Charlie Chaplin who helped sell war bonds even when he made silent movies

think of Harry Truman who was unpopular but principled

unpopular….like Joe…..but a gentleman like him….

think of Alexander Graham Bell who helped us talk..

and talk about freedom…

think of the many many people who have come before. And how they worked to bring us the light of freedom

think about James Earl Jones who was a great voice …

think about James Madison and how he defended the constitution……

DEFEND IT!

think about Frederick Douglass and Cal Ripken….two of my heroes but for different reasons…..

think about Jonas Salk and his selflessness with creating a vaccine for a terrible disease that killed many….

think about FREEDOM

its always close….always there

think about Greta Thurnberg and how she helps clean our earth…

think about Humphrey Bogart….he was wonderful…

Think about Kamala…..that incredible person….an inspiration

think about JFK and his brother…

and finally, think about Thomas Aquinas….he helped us look at the world

remember who came before and you shall own the AFTER

thank you for reading my poem. I hope It brought joy to your day
