Mike Judge and Etan Cohen's's Visionary Ouevre [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-11-11 Well, it’s official: the American experiment in Democracy is over. The change had been coming for some time, but when we awoke on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 with The Donald’s dick filling our ass, the Trump stench filling the room and that outer Boroughs voice filling our ears, demanding, “Didja miss me?” the revolution was complete. We are now well and truly an Idiocracy. Our poor Founding Fathers completely anticipated the rise of scoundrels, mountebanks and windbags, but they could only defend against them with what they knew at the time. They were trying to balance allowing the masses to live in freedom while retaining the guiding and civilizing hand of the aristocracy/landed gentry to tamp down the excesses of mob rule. What they couldn’t have anticipated was the separation of wealth from the land. They were all farmers, wealth all came from the land, and a landowner had inherent responsibilities to the land, if he expected to keep on being a landowner. So giving the vote to landowners and basing the Senate on territory rather than population, while giving to the Senate the serious, long-lasting responsibilities like selecting judges, was a sincere effort to counterbalance the worst excesses of the mob. By appealing to, and elevating, the gentlemen with skin in the game, a longer view of civilization and an inherent sense of responsibility, the Founders hoped to create a constructive, dynamic tension between those with nothing to lose and those with everything to lose. But then along came P.T. Barnum, then 20th century marketing and market manipulation, and now the final nail in the coffin of Democracy: social media. Completely landless, completely without responsibility, and beloved of the masses. Now government is entirely a messaging exercise, divorced from our Constitution, our common traditions and from reality. I expect President Musk to follow President Trump, if elections continue after 2024. A billionaire with Twitter will not only be unbeatable, but will be the perfect candidate for 21st century Americans, who will nevertheless express surprise when he is unable to perform a single function of government. Be assured — he will find someone else to blame. Me, I’m focused on survival, for myself, my family and a few select friends. I’m about finished with these pronouncements, too — they haven’t done much, and even a basset hound eventually knows to quit howling at midnight when no one responds. However, now that the American presidency has been fatally reduced to a branding opportunity, I’d like to offer the following terms for use in the coming days and years, to describe the various Trump-branded events that will soon occur. These are all in the public domain — I am obviously not a copyright/trademark kind of guy, else why give away all these thoughtful, experienced and well-educated words for free? In probable order of appearance: TrumpCollapse TrumpDepression TrumpPlague TrumpWars Environmental Trumpocalypse and, of course, Global Trumpageddon. A weird irony is that Trump is likely to be the one who, through either the TrumpCollapse or Environmental Trumpocalypse, ushers in the final demise of Capitalism. If people can’t get electricity, clean water or food, money won’t make any difference and will become instantly meaningless. From crypto to a barter economy in two short decades. Huh, progress. “Only Nixon can go to China,” I guess.
