The Return of the Lost Cause Myth [1]

Eddie Glaude Jr was on Velshi this morning. He's normally a very thoughtful, quiet voice but right now he's extremely angry. He feels a great urgency to counter what he sees as a second round of Lost Cause lies. Economics, as he sees it, is a lie people are telling each other to excuse the reelection of Trump. He points to James Baldwin as someone who insisted very strongly that neither Economics nor state's rights nor self-determination were the causes of the Civil War.

Trump wasn't reelected because people have trouble making ends meet. Trump was reelected because open racism and white supremacy are exploding upon the landscape. Trump did not, contrary to what some are claiming, make any gains with black Americans. They see him for who he is. The manosphere isn't screeching at women "your bodies, OUR choice" because they can't buy a house. They're doing it because misogyny is the equally evil twin of white supremacy.
