Some Trump Voters Already Regret Their Decision [1]

My wife just got an email message this morning from MeidasTouch. It appears that some people who voted for TFG are starting to realize they should have read the fine print before signing up to join “The Leopards Eating Peoples Faces” party. The link is here.

Just days after Donald Trump’s presidential victory, reports indicate that some of his supporters are already experiencing “buyer’s remorse”as they confront the immediate impacts of his economic policies. In a video report, Brett Meiselas, co-founder of the MeidasTouch Network, highlighted the growing regret among Trump voters, many of whom did not anticipate how Trump’s proposed tariffs and policy changes would affect them directly.

Small and large manufacturing businesses are bracing for potentially large cost increases for imported goods. Some of them are already warning employees that holiday bonuses are going to be cancelled and potential layoffs are going to come as they try to get imported goods delivered before the TFG administration takes over and nobody has a clue just how bad the hit is going to be.

One manager at a small Pennsylvania manufacturing firm had to explain how tariffs actually work — very few of his employees realized the the exporter does not pay the tariff. The importing company has to pay the tariff to get their goods out of the US (if you are in the US)) customs warehouse. That’s on top of already having paid the exporter the cost of goods and transport.

(Having worked at a couple of big multinational computer manufacturers for about 44 years before I retired I’ve had considerable exposure to how tariffs work.)

With TFG’s wild plans to deport immigrants, even documented immigrants who voted for him are getting nervous, as are their employers. I suspect the agriculture, building, and restaurant/hospitality the ones who employ a lot of undocumented immigrants are also badly worried.

I’m glad we completed some major construction projects on our house during late September and through October.
