MISSION POSSIBLE [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-11-10 Because “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible’!" Audrey Hepburn But if you need some inspiration, here you go. More to the point. The AP Headline is Trump has vowed to kill US offshore wind projects. Will he succeed? Right away the verb vow strikes me as absurd as we are well aware that he can not keep promises nor vows. But I for one want to hope for more than his streak of breaking promises, and vows. So from the AP Article… “Opponents of offshore wind energy projects expect President-elect Donald Trump to kill an industry he has vowed to end on the first day he returns to the White House.” OK. Use of the word vow again. Hmmm. OK. Expect away. BUT. “In campaign appearances, Trump railed against offshore wind and promised to sign an executive order to block such projects. “We are going to make sure that that ends on Day 1,” Trump said in a May speech. “I’m going to write it out in an executive order. It’s going to end on Day 1.”” There is that word promise again. But he rambles on again about killing animals. For someone who has never lived with a pet he sure seems to have a strange thought patterns regarding non-human animals. But more importantly, is there any sort of evidence that we should worry? AP seems to go back and forth, perhaps both sides a bit. But then there is this. “New Jersey Assemblyman Paul Kanitra listed the major offshore wind companies in a Facebook post, saying, “It’s time to pack your bags and get the hell away from the Jersey Shore, our marine life, fishing industry and beautiful beaches.” Kanitra said he was looking forward “to your stock prices tanking.” And that was starting to happen.” AP reports that two offshore wind companies are now taking a hit in the Stock Market. “Orsted closed down nearly 14% on Wednesday and was down 11% over the past five days. Turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems was down nearly 24% over that same period.” So maybe yes? But for sure this is “news” you can do something about. Write to your Congress critters, local, state, and national. Letters to editor? All your social media platforms. All your family members in all directions…that you are still on speaking terms with. Friends, co-workers. Half time is over. This is your mission whether you choose to accept it or not. But this message will not self-destruct, ever. Yet the non-human animals would prefer that the planet not be destroyed.
