Draw a Red Line for Yourself [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-11-10 This will hopefully be short, just a bit of advice from someone who has lived thru civil war and survived, escaped, lived as a refugee for a few years, stayed in refugee camps and eventually ended up in freedom. Or so I thought. This was decades ago and I’ll leave the details at that. Nothing is more important than the safety of your families, and with that in mind, everyone needs to draw a line, mentally, of how much they can take and when they will consider leaving for safety. That may not mean leaving the country, make your own plans whatever they may be. Maybe you have family in another state. Think of the frog in boiling water experiment. If you put a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will immediately jump out. But if you put it in cold water and turn the heat on, it will stay in there until it slowly gets boiled. This is the same spot we are all in. You can’t allow yourself to become the frog. You can’t slowly get used to everything that may or may not come. Don’t get conditioned to accept everything, as in the end you will be in a place you never imagined in the beginning you could ever be. Draw a line right now. What is too much, and what will tell you, without any doubt, that safety is now a concern? What would that be for you? Would it be the actual building of the camps? Or maybe if the militias are deputized to go door to door? What will be too much for you? Where is your own line? You don’t need to share that, just think about it, brainstorm it with your family if you will. For me, personally, it will be how fast he pardons Jan 6 offenders, and how he goes about it. I see it this way… a dictator has to have a personal army, an army loyal only to him. Sure, he has the Secret Service, but they are ultimately government employees and he believes they almost let him get killed twice. What I would do, if I were a dictator, I would pardon all the Jan 6 offenders right away, day 1, as they would become my personal army. I already know they are the worst of the worst and are willing to kill police, or anyone else, for me. And if I pardon them, I could deputize them and make them eternally grateful to me… now, I would not have to pay them right away. Mainly, because it would make them mercenaries, and that would look bad. No, they would be my volunteers. My double line of defense, first the SS, and then the real SS that won’t let anyone get to me. After about a year, when things are even further along, I’d give them salaries and uniforms, make it official. I would also try to distract when I did all these pardons. On the day I do that, I’d also pardon myself, arrest a few prosecutors and do a few other things that would overwhelm the media coverage. So for me, personally, if I see such an act, a sequence of these events, I’ll know he’s doing what I already figured out I would do. I apologize for the doom and gloom, this period has brought up a lot of childhood trauma and fears. All I am trying to do is share a bit of my experience, in case it can help you make a good decision for your family. Draw your red lines now. And stick to them. Don’t panic now, but be ready so you don’t have to think about this when you have no time to do it.
