Those who didn’t vote at all did not believe any of the dire predictions made regarding a 2nd go around with him as POTUS. They also didn’t believe Kamala / Walz would do or be able to do anything to help them with their own needs regarding the cost of living. The final vote count will show turnout on both sides was lower than in 2020, I don’t see any other explanation as to why. I also am not sold on the ‘we should have run a primary and maybe picked another candidate’ argument. So many people feel completely powerless as to just not bother. The disinterest was very palpable amongst the people I interact with across the country (my job avails me contact with a lot of different people). When people simply don’t care or believe it’s worth the effort to try and make a change this is what happens. I don’t know what our future holds for us as a nation (or even as a species) now but I am not optimistic it will be better than it would have been had the election gone for Kamala. I only hope the mass deportations promised will end up being forgotten by the new administration.
