Things We Can Do to Resist: Kill Your "Sh***er" and FaceF**K Feeds. Don't Empower The Algorithms [1]

When the post-mortem is finished on this race, I have no doubt that digital rat-fuckery , particularly a flood of targeted incendiary misinformation, care of social media feeds, will be part of the equation.

These platforms, at the best of times, are “digital walled-gardens” where essentially we trade away some rights in advance. Add to this, malevolent creeps and assholes such as Elon Musk, weirdos like Mark Zuckerberg, then there is literally no reason to be enriching these people.

They now likely to become a full-fledged propaganda arm of the incoming government.

If we must have more than Daily Kos, then we should find or build progressive alternatives, but the truth is, these sorts of platforms are generally, bad for us, and no longer serve a function beyond creating dependency based on dopamine. At worst, they tell us not to vote, because both candidates suck, or they amplify heinous disinformation, such as the garbage deployed to sway the gullible into voting against their interests.
