Occum's Razor and the American Laziness [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-11-06 Per the Wiki: Occam's razor is a principle of logic that states that the simplest explanation is usually the most accurate. We are all reading and watching commentary after commentary about why or how we lost this election. It’s including all types of preliminary analysis about different demographics and messaging and blah blah blah. I’ve yet to see one person state the obvious: Americans are lazy. Those of us who read or contribute on this site are amongst the highest-information voters in the country. It is hard if not impossible for us to relate to those who are low-information voters much less those who don’t care enough to vote. So why do I say Americans are lazy? Why is this my Occum’s Razor theory? Here you go: In 2020 everyone was sitting home picking our noses so voting was at least something to think about and do and had far more time to get information and do something with it. So far Trump 2024 has gotten about 2 million FEWER votes than Trump 2020. Yes there are demographics who inexplicably went more for Trump on a percentage basis, but he did NOT grow his base! So if he got fewer votes why didn’t he lose massively? Because so far Harris 2024 has gotten about 16 million FEWER votes than Biden 2020. There you go. Far fewer votes overall and Republicans win. Americans didn’t vote. Americans are too lazy to care. The most obvious and simplest explanation to me. Occum’s Razor. I don’t care as much about why HIspanics voted more Republican on a percentage basis, screw percentages. Americans are too lazy to care.
