[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-11-05 Wow! I just finished a text conversation that has me more confident than ever in a #Kamala win today. I’ve seen a huge shift in attitudes among #Republicans in my orbit. I feel validated in keeping open stressful lines of communication with people I love, but whose politics I hate: --- Brother in Law: Hey, BTW, your life's work has been accomplished. I voted for Kamala and I'm about 99% certain your Dad has as well. I so so so hope she wins today. Me: If you guys are the "Canaries in the coal mine", she'll win in a landslide. Brother in Law: That's what I'm hoping for. Paul did as well...also a life long republican. At this point I won't go back unless there is an entirely new group of leaders and thought in the party. — Of course, this is not a guarantee of victory, and I have no relatives in Pennsylvania, but something has changed, not just in my family but in the religious communities my family members connect with. They went from not liking Trumps “tone” to feeling as though he’s taking advantage of their faith, to “Dear God, not another 4 years of this guy.” I hope you’re seeing something similar in your world. I hope my family members are the coal mine canaries. I hope we can repair fractured lines of communication with people we love who have been lied to and exploited by Republicans, and find a way to include them in a broad coalition. I gotta feeling about tonight….
