[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-11-04 Not a prediction, just something I will be curious about tomorrow: The voter numbers in Ohio according to the Secretary of State from May, 2024 before Biden dropped out were: Number of Registered Voters in Ohio: 8,060,554 Number of Registered Democrats: 817,063 Number of Registered Republicans: 1,508,641 Number of Unaffiliated Registered Voters: 5,734,850 I haven't found an updated list since Harris became the nominee. However, the other election result I find intriguing is from last year, when the 2023 general election included an amendment to the Ohio constitution protecting abortion rights. The Yes votes totaled 56.8%, defeating the Republican-led opposition. Ohio also came out in high numbers for a surprise August 2023 special election that attempted to block the Issue from ever reaching the November ballot, rejecting that measure by a hefty 57% to 43% of the vote. Ohio was just one of multiple states, Kansas being an early surprise among them, whose votes around this issue did not conform to expectations based on their past party preferences. Again, not a prediction as one year earlier our state also gifted America with Senator J. D. Vance. (Gifted in the sense that finding a flaming sack of dog poo on your front porch is a "gift.") Anyway, it will be interesting.
