Kamala's Victory Speech, Part 2 [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-11-02 Gridlock in D.C. will have to be broken if anything is to be accomplished. Kamala can kick-start the process in her victory speech. How? One potential way would be to reach across the aisle, and do it at the earliest possible moment. Frankly, I wouldn't expect too many republicans to respond at first, but that is not the point. It would be a first step toward breaking the ice. Consider these benefits: It shows that Kamala is serious about governing. It shows that Kamala is a reasonable person, and she is inviting the cooperation of other reasonable people. It is civilized. It sets the tone for eventual success. It gives Kamala something new and fresh to say that is not just a rehash of her stump speeches. Let it be known that this invitation is open-ended, so republicans have the option of joining later. There is much work to be done, and it won't get done as long as animosity and gridlock persist. Let the healing begin! P.S. With any luck, news organizations would focus on this aspect of the speech because it is fresh and new, and therefore newsworthy. If they do, it could amplify the message that now is the time to get to work, and Kamala is on it.
