I was greeted with a knock at my apartment door at 3am. I answered it and it was my next door neighbor asking me a question about the pettiest bullshit. He was slightly drunk. I kindly asked him not to knock at my door at a time like that; after all, at 3am, I am either sleep or working to make deadline and under either circumstance I don’t want to be disturbed unless I need to be (translation: it almost has to be that someone near and dear to me is in a serious medical condition or dead). I can’t say that I was exactly sleep at the time, though. I had been up for about 5 minutes and was simply lying in the bed waiting to go back to sleep even though I rarely go back to sleep when wake up in the middle of the night (unless I have to make a bathroom run as people my age usually have to do). It’s been hard to sleep lately, what with Election Day fast approaching (four days!). This is no ordinary election. (I’ve already had at least two dreams about the upcoming election aftermath with one scenario taking place in a future Donald Trump administration. I will only say that it was a real Logan Run-ish dream.) This Election Day will probably be one of my busiest days at this blog and one of the reasons that I haven’t been able to get any good sleep for the past few days is that I’m trying to think of all matter of things to write for that day. In spite of the now steady stream of increasingly good news about the Dem “ground game” in the swing states, I’m still anxious because, in part, of 2016 and in large part because...well the possibility of a variation of that Logan Run-ish coming true. Maybe I should simply finish this entry and go to bed; I haven’t had any sleep. Wake up and do what I need to do tomorrow. November 5 will be here soon enough. I don’t need to rush it.
