For Many 2020 Was the Worst Year Ever. President Trump Made 2020 a Nightmare. [1]

Weirdly, somehow, some voters seem to remember President Trump through a gentle, pre-Covid haze—perhaps because theirmemories are filtered through the Fox News psychedelic lens.



In 2017, Trump was still insane, but he hadn’t wrecked country yet. Pre-Covid, the 2017-19 economy wasn’t too bad. Job growth was good--about 6,375,000 jobs in three years (but not as good as under Obama, who oversaw job growth of 8,040,000 in his last three years.) Also, Obama had much lower inflation and lower deficits than Trump, but the GDP continued to improve, from 2.78% per year under Obama to 4.02% in 2019 under Trump.

Then came 2020. While other countries were preparing for the Covid onslaught (Japan and Korea had their national plans in place by January 30th), Trump and the US government were still pretending it wasn’t going to happen and really didn’t take serious action until the second week of March, and we all suffered as Trump’s years of ignoring budget deficits, as Trump’s elimination of much the pandemic management system and supplies and all the personal protective gear , with Trump’s insane denials and pronouncements —(all of Trump’s unending failures) led to a year of horror, financial collapse and an unbelievable number of deaths ( the 10th worst per capita death rate in the world )—and perhaps 400,000 more Trump deaths than if the Trump and his US government had managed the Covid crisis like adults.
