THIEL, MUSK, BEZOS, MERCER... and Even The So-called "Good" Billionaires [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-10-27 Musk is clearly a fascist, neo-natalist pervert, willing to share his half baked ideas about nearly anything to any fool who will listen. He’s a fraud who leveraged his fortune to create the illusion that he has ever actually built anything in his life. He speaks in the kind of deliberative and hushed whisper that makes gullible idiots think he is a genius. Jeff Bezos is why, although I love books, I don’t trust most book store owners ( that’s how Bezos got his start). Jeff is all about “private business Uber Alles!”, just as long as he could squeeze enough cheap labor out of his massive non-union workforce(s). Now he is squelching free speech at a newspaper that boasts of being a beacon of free speech. He’s a real card. Many of these idiots, like 10 year old boys, are obsessed with rocket ships. Their expensive wet dreams of fleeing our dying planet and repopulating, along with their nubile brides, a newly greened biosphere, is clearly not about our survival ( though fantastic and unworkable in the first place)-- it is about saving their own asses — so in love with themselves as they are. It has been said elsewhere, and I have felt it myself: these guys are James Bond villains come to life. It is like putting Goldfinger in charge of the federal reserve. Their second favorite topic: building lavish underground bunkers to steward them through the climate apocalypse. These contemporary robber barons are far more cartoonishly evil and stupid than their predecessors. Also, At least steel magnate, Andrew Carnegie, gave a massive amount of money to build public libraries, ( though he also went armed battle with unions attempting to get a fair shake. Another industrialist, Henry Clay Frick, head of Carnegie Steel, was nearly assassinated by an anarchist named Alexander Berkman. Not sure if Frick bleated on about it like Trump). My main point is simply that these fucking people command way too much money, way too much power, and way too much influence— and in ways that are mostly horrible. Too many of them have a lock on media platforms, or businesses related to media platforms. I think we are getting a clear picture of why this is a bad idea. At the very least, we need to rachet up the anti-trust enforcement. Break up monopolies and create as much competition as possible.
