Forget the polls; this is what I'm encountering in the field (canvassing, phoning) [1]

The big news: I’m running into a higher share of undecides than the polls are catching.

Today I canvassed in NJ-7 where there’s a tight potential flip race for the House. Typically a tending red part of the district. Out of 30 doors, I got at least half home and out of those: wound up having at least 6 discussions with voters saying they were at least somewhat undecided. A tiny sample to be sure and sometimes one in the home felt strong but another was wavering; but given that I have consistently run into this in my other canvases (at least 2-3 per time) that strongly indicates a SIZABLE changeable electorate in the closing days.

Also: the GOP seems to have a smaller , less engaged one-to-one field operation than we do. THere could be more of us out there persuading than they have.

Thankfully, a fair share of strong Democratic dedicated voters thanking me for going around, and determined to have family members get to the polls.

And yes, a few Trumpers who registered as Dems many years ago and never changed it. And also: some declared Republicans who proudly say no to Trump and what the hell is the matter with their party. That they trust Harris far more than you-know-who.

The main message: we still have work to do and can make a difference.

Each time I get on the phone or go canvas I feel unable to do it, just starting out mechanically. But my body showing up to do the work (and not enthusiastic either!) has produced surprising results.

Even if you’re not feelin it: we are still in this thing and can use you.

Later, if i can, I’ll add some of the other responses I’ve been getting, but for now, push on.
