[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-10-25 Generally speaking I have been very impressed with the Harris/Walz campaign. She came out of the chute after Biden withdrew — something I supported after the debate fiasco — and generated enormous excitement. She has been smart to emphasize ways to lower costs, to portray the heartbreaking stories of women who have died or faced severe medical issues due to Dobbs and to extremely effective in attacking Trump. But she has refrained from campaigning on the successes of the Biden Administration most notably (1) the Inflation Reduction Act — the most important climate change law in our country’s history and one which is creating jobs in almost every state; (2) the bipartisan infrastructure law which too addresses climate change infrastructure needs but also seeks to fix many old infrastructure plaguing cities and states for decades; and (3) the CHIPs Act shoring up needed technology companies to create semiconductors and chips here in the states, both a smart response to impeded supply chains during the pandemic and dominance by China and Taiwan in these fields. The fact is many undecided voters do not know about these laws and they are currently and for the next several years on track to create thousands, if not millions of mostly good-paying jobs. I am not sure if I have even heard Harris cite these laws. I rarely, if ever, hear her mention the term “climate change” although I and many voters consider this the most significant issue facing our country and planet. There are plenty of young voters expect action in this realm and they have good reason not to know the difference between her likely policies fighting climate change and Trump’s “drill, baby, drill” policy. This is a close election and she does not seem to be fighting as if she wants to win it with every tool at her disposal. I suspect she worries that if she brags about what they have done, she thinks it will come off as insensitive. The problem with that line of thinking is that she leaves many voters with the false impression that Biden/Harris administration has not successfully helped our country and planet. I would love to hear your views on why she has been so tepid in this regard. The truth is a powerful tool! Use it! Do not be scared to point out the facts!
