[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-10-25 Okay. Let me get this off my chest. While I do think Kamala Harris is going to be President, there’s always a chance Trump could still win. And if he does, there’s a good chance he’ll carry out a false flag operation to consolidate all power into his hands and of course, JD Vance is waiting in the wings should Trump keel over or be 25th Amendment-ed. Once good example is the Reichstag Fire of 1933, which took place roughly one month after Adolf Hitler was elected Chancellor of Germany. On February 27, a fire broke out in the Reichstag(the German parliament) building in Berlin. It was blamed on Marinus van der Lubbe, a Dutch council communist. The Nazis used it as a pretext to claim that Communists were plotting against the German government, and as a result, they induced President Paul von Hindenburg to pass the Reichstag Fire Decree, by using Article 48 of the Weimar Constitution The decree took away the civil liberties of German citizens including haebeus corpus, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of association and the secrecy of the mail and telephone. These rights were not reinstated during the 12-year Nazi reign. The decree was used by the Nazis to ban publications not considered friendly to the Nazi cause. Despite the fact that van der Lubbe claimed to have acted alone in the Reichstag fire, Hitler, after having obtained his emergency powers, announced that it was the start of a wider communist effort to take over Germany. Nazi Party newspapers then published this fabricated story. The Communists were banned from the Reichstag and the Nazis increased their number of seats from 33% to 44% and with their allies the German National People’s Party, they held 52$ of seats. On March 23, despite some difficulties, the Nazis and their allies passed the Enabling Act, essentially making a dictator allowing him to rule by decree. Although von Hindenberg still could remove Hitler, he ultimiately did not and after he died in August 1934, he combined the office of President and Chancellor and became sole leader, or furher, of Germany. The responsibility for the Reichstag fire remains a topic of debate and research, as while Van der Lubbe was found guilty and beheaded, it is unclear whether he acted alone. Many historians now believe that it was a false flag operation set out by the Nazis to consolidate power and Van der Lubbe was just a patsy. Indeed, in the days following the incident, major newspapers in the US and London had immediately been skeptical of the good fortune of the Nazis in finding a communist scapegoat. In 2008, Germany posthumously pardoned Van der Lubbe under a law introduced in 1998 to lift unjust verdicts dating from the Nazi era. This makes me worry that the GQP will try to do the same here in the United States if Trump wins. The only thing close to that happening here for historical comparison was 9/11, even though I don’t think the Government carried it out, although I do believed they had the chance to stop it and simply chose not to because the neoconservatives wanted another Pearl Harbor. But Bush did end up passing both the PATRIOT Act and created the Department of Homeland Security, which weakened some of our freedom. If Trump wins, he already has said he plans to weaponize the Government to arrest anyone and everyone who opposes him. Who’s to say he won’t carry out his own false flag to consolidate power? I’ve said it before about this election and I’ll say it again: Freedom is literally on the fucking line!
