The Kennedy Effect [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-10-20 A bit of an uncomfortable topic here, and I haven’t really brainstormed as to how I wanted to go about this, so I guess I’ll just come out with the two points I wanted to broach. First, people need to stop freaking out about why the polling numbers are equalizing, and why Harris is on more even footing now with Trump. They are not errors, they are not polling biases, it is not this or that — this was fully expected. When RFK Jr. endorsed DJT and told his 3-4% of the voters to vote for him, what did everyone think was going to happen? Those 3-4% of the voters were either going to listen to Kennedy, or they were going to drop off and not vote at all. Looks like they listened to what he said. This is important because some are wondering if the Harris campaign slowed down, or if they are losing momentum, or a million other things. No they didn’t. The momentum is still there, the excitement is still there, none of that is missing. It’s at the exact same level it was all along. It’s just that the Trump and Kennedy plan has an actual effect on the real world, and that’s what we’re seeing. The Kennedy Effect. Ok, it’s not really called that, but that’s what I’m calling it here in this topic. The second thing I wanted to write about is more of a question for those more intellectually adept than I; someone who can perhaps see deeper and tell me what I’m missing. Because I’m definitely missing something, and I can’t figure it out. Here is my issue: When Kennedy and Trump disclosed their plan, when Kennedy endorsed Trump, and when they decided to game the election and remove Kennedy from the battleground states, but leave him on the ballot in other states — well, why the heck hasn’t the Harris campaign filed any lawsuits over this? As far as I know, the two of them doing this has been the end of the story. The last I heard about any of this was weeks ago when it happened. No lawsuits were filed to remove Kennedy from any states, but also no lawsuits were filed to keep him on the ballot in any states. At the very least, they could have filed to force him to stay on the ballots he did qualify for. This is major stuff. Kennedy’s 3% may decide the election. But nothing at all. No lawsuits. Not a peep from the Harris campaign. So this is what I need help with — what am I missing? What am I not seeing? What is the benefit to sitting on your hands and letting Trump and Kennedy do whatever they want to? Will their plan backfire in the end, or are the campaign managers truly just sitting on their hands? What good can come out of letting Kennedy take 3% of the voters over, do it in a questionable manner, and then just look the other way from it? Someone please help me out if you can deduce why letting this happen is a good thing.
