Are We Ready To Fight? [1]

As the election gets closer, I feel confident about Kamala Harris winning the popular and electoral vote. In looking at the metrics, she beats TFG in fund raising, hard hitting ads, strong endorsements from high profile celebrities, a strong, networked ground game and most of all, the truth. I don’t trust polls any longer, but I see many subtle signs that this may be a true blue wave (i.e., people willingly displaying Harris signs in ‘red country’), not only for the Presidency, but also down ballot. I have done what I can to hep out, donating $400.00 to various campaigns ( I haven’t donated directly to Harris/Walz, but instead to down ballot Senators and House races). I even did a short stint of phone banking before I crashed my Jeep on… dun,dun,dun… Sept. Friday the 13th! But I digress. Lately, as in the last three weeks or so, I began thinking what the fascists’ reaction would be to election results that project Harris as the winner. I began to think more and more regarding the Brooks Brothers Riot in Florida in the 2000 election. I have always wondered why the right wingers had a ‘ready to go’ group of people willing to throw themselves into the fray and cause enough chaos to disrupt the vote count and force the ballot to SCOTUS. Where was the Democrats and Progressives at this point in time? I mean, surely, getting the correct vote count was paramount to our Democracy and our nation. But apparently, there was nobody from our side in person, on the ground, to counter these early stage fascists, who were setting the scene 24 years ago, to where we are today.

So I ask… are we prepared this time around to counter what will occur all around the nation when Harris is projected the winner? It appears, the fascists have plans to create tens or hundreds of Brooks Brother Riots all over the country. Is Harris/ Walz ready for this? Are we, as Americans who believe in our national, state and local elections going to be ready? Are we ready to defend our national institutions, by physical force, if necessary? Are we ready to be at these locations of chaos, meant to sow doubt in our elections, and counter their actions? Imagine, if there were a crowd of Progressives out numbering the fascists in Florida in 2000, making sure the vote count was completed correctly and accurately. Gore would have been our President and so many things in our time line would be different today. Is that not worth fighting for? Now project it out to today, when our Democracy may actually fall into a plutocratic dictatorship. We need to defeat these fascists at their own game, to maintain our Democracy, not only for us, but for future generations. Fund raising, getting out the vote and the truth may no longer be enough. We may need to match the fascists literally, blow for blow. Are we ready? Is that not worth fighting for?
