Pollwatching in Philly: Saving Democracy Takes Time [1]

Honestly, even on my best vacation, I have not written but a tiny fraction of the number of postcards I said I would write to help Kamala Harris get elected. And even without the distractions of carafes of red wine, museum tours and a significant other, finding the time to address, write and stamp all of these cards is a real challenge. One that is made harder since I need to write legibly so that strangers can read it.

Something as simple and low-tech as writing postcards is a good example of the complexity and time-consuming nature of our presidential campaign. Even the easy stuff does not happen on its own and nothing, including postcard stamps, is free. We don’t really know what will work to get the small percentage of possible new Harris voters to actually vote Harris at this point or to make sure the definite Harris voters definitely vote, so we try it all.



Sidewalk parties. Generic ‘Vote’ cards. ‘Trump Killed Roe’ billboards. Cure the vote phone calls. ‘Trump the Traitor’ flags. Anything and everything that might stick somewhere and make a difference.

Putting Up The Sign

The election is less than 3 weeks away. We cannot get people to vote after Election Day, though we will fight to count votes until that job is done.

So don’t put any of this off ‘til tomorrow! Do it today, do it now and do more tomorrow and more the day after! GOTV mattters now, whatever you can do and it all takes more time than you might expect.

GOTV takes a bit from all of us, and starting now and working together until the polls close on November 5, we will get it done and win.
