Street Prophets Friday: Between Flights (photo diary) [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-10-18 Greetings! and welcome to another fluffy, little, Friday-flavored open thread from ol’ Marko. That being me, I shall continue to type out this introduction. But where do I go from here? Ah yes, this week I've got a collection of photos from between my two journeys over the summer. Considering how many diaries worth of photos I managed to scrounge out of my trip with my little family to the USA, I thought I'd take a minute to list and link the chapters: The Jet Lag Diaries: Part I The Jet Lag Diaries: Part II The Jet Lag Diaries: Part III The Jet Lag Diaries: Part IV The Jet Lag Diaries: Part V Madeline Island Museum Fire & Rain Devil's Lake Making the Trip Mitchell Domes Chicago, Day One Shedd Aquarium The Field Museum A Rainy Farewell to Chicago And to think, I'd intended to title the entire series: “The Jet Lag Diaries” and just keep ratcheting up that Roman numeral. Glad I abandoned that idea. Once we were back in the Czech Republic, Mrs the Werelynx, Fabulous Mother-In-Law and I spent as much time as we could out in the country. The garden was a bit overgrown, but I'd lost surprisingly few plants to the slugs A particularly nice sunset My little family reunited to take a little trip to a pretty little town near Prague to attend a wedding. And right back out to the country where the ladies and I attended a concert at the rather fancy baroque church of the Holy Trinity in the hospital complex of Kuks. Baritone Roman Hoza and organist Lukáš Dvořák performed and, because YouTube seems to lack a video of them performing together, I've provided links to their individual YouTube pages for the musically curious among you. We were treated to the sight of a hot air balloon launch as we walked out of the doors of the church. Nearby there's a pretty impressive zoo. We tried out the safari bus one evening. One ostrich teased us by slow walking in front of the bus Eventually it turned around to rejoin the other ostriches Another satellite of the same town is the site of a care home for people with multiple sclerosis. We attended a charitable event there. Inside the walled garden of the care center, we sat down to enjoy a concert by some of my favorite Czech musicians. Here’s a taste: Not that the fiddle player particularly remembers me, but I think I first encountered him at a concert given by an old family friend a couple years ago. This concert was more of a rock and folk concert, while that other concert was jazz. Quite a versatile performer. I made a point of saying hello after the show and letting him know how much I'd enjoyed it. Thanks for stopping by. Next week's diary should be flying off exploring new lands again. And don't forget, this is an open thread. All topics, promotions, tunes, rants and fluff are welcome.
