Thursday GNR: No Horribles Today [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-10-17 18 days until Election Day, and things are looking better every day. So we can put away the Doom & Gloom that others are trying to foist upon us (yes, foist I say) and all of the ways that those who declare us their enemies pwn themselves. Let them make all of their fatal errors with no interference from us. We could talk about the panicking Rs who try to make us panic, but today I am putting them aside, with all the rest of the Doom and Gloom. We could talk about Human Sacrifice in the Middle East, or we could celebrate Jimmy Carter’s work to prepare for the Two-State Solution, so long delayed. But not today. So we are going to begin by celebrating a hero today. x If your spirits are down, lift them with this thought: Jimmy Carter lived long enough to vote for Kamala Harris today. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/rODaa8Yzlp — Steven Senski 🇺🇦 🌈 🥥🌴 (@StevenSenski) October 15, 2024 x Hey Jimmy Carter, congrats on achieving your goal of living long enough to vote for Kamala Harris. Don't go anywhere yet, K? You still need to see her sworn in. pic.twitter.com/XLKj8kEzCT — Conspiratorial Templates (@mynamehear) October 15, 2024 He and we can all look forward to congratulating Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on Election Night, and again when the Electoral College votes are formally accepted in Congress, and again on the day of the Inauguration. Every day a new record for him and for the country. A Nobel Peace Prize winner Sadat, Carter, Begin A man whose highest ambition was once to become Chief of Naval Operations A Navy nuclear submariner who saved Canada from the Chalk River nuclear meltdown, climbing inside the reactor with his team one at a time A man who put solar water heaters on the White House roof A man who negotiated the Panama Canal Treaties, and the second round of Strategic Arms Limitation Talks A man who pretty nearly outlived Guinea worm (Four cases this year so far) A man who taught Christians how to use Christianity to become better people. Now Consider This Common Dreams: Biden (Finally) Threatens to Halt Arms to Israel Over Gaza Carnage "We should not wait 30 days," one group argued. "U.S. law requires ending the weapons NOW." Beware the wrath of a patient man. A lot of people don’t believe a word of it. I won’t put myself into the middle of the bushwah and the Israeli hasbarah. The Good News About Good News There is just so much of it, of so many kinds. Pre-Election Day Ballots Cast CNN, Edison, Catalist Featured on CNN early this morning 6,108,577 from 39 states reporting There are actually more, but 10 states won’t say how many, and Alabama doesn’t have early voting in any form. Today: Early voting begins in North Carolina A Hundred Million Miracles (Original Cast Recording) x x YouTube Video Yale Daily News: Yale receives $1 million donation for Buddhist Studies During a trip to the United States, leaders from the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism [대한불교조계종, 大韓佛敎 曹溪宗] made a historic donation to advance the study of Korean Buddhism at Yale. The Jogye Order, the largest sect of Buddhism in Korea, has never before donated to a university abroad or donated this much to any foreign organization. The donation was spurred by the Jogye Order’s relationship with Hwansoo Kim, a professor of Korean Buddhism and culture, and the sect’s desire to support the academic study of Korean Buddhism at Yale. “All my fellow monks and nuns know who I am and trust me to make good use of this,” Kim told the News. Kim became a monk in the Jogye Order at age 15 and has since kept closely in touch with those he met then. He began expanding Yale’s Buddhist Studies Initiative while he was serving as chair of the Council on East Asian Studies. Democrats propose to do every kind of good available to everybody, even to those who can’t stand it because Those People will start to get their fair share. We know that the new Congress in Jan. 2025 will have to begin with establishing voting rights and ending Human Sacrifice, particularly of women and children. Thus abortion rights, contraception, IVF, and more. After that we will have hundreds of previous bills and new proposals to sift through, including reining in the Supreme Court.
