WAYWO: Camping with critters [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-10-06 Hi guys! I’m sorry about that! I am in central time at the moment but my computer still thinks it’s in Virginia. I apologize for the earlier mis-post! So, I am currently in Arkansas visiting a friend, which makes the first real interstate road trip I’ve done in Wheeliehouse. And now with the addition of one dog in addition to two cats :-) So it’s been a real test of how workable this RV life really is. And I’m happy to report, it’s pretty darn workable. Of course, that’s partly because Naomi is a fabulous, fuzzy, laid-back companion. We’re still working on her map-reading skills, but she’s a great co-pilot Welcome to What Are You Working On? where we talk about (and often display) our handiwork, whether yarn and fabric crafts, woodwork, metalwork, art, or anything else “crafty”. Have a project you’re working on? Share it in the comments! Want to host a WAYWO blog? See the schedule in the comments and volunteer! About the only upgrades to Wheeliehouse since last we spoke are that I got the kitty cabinet retooled and painted, got new hinges on the “house” door, and finally got the door sign up. Kitty cabinet: when I first designed this there wasn’t a dog in the picture, so having the cat bowls in the floor “holder” (where the box of kitty litter is) was fine. With Naomi, not so much! So there are now two cat feeding stations, one on each upper level: The cats adapted pretty quickly! I didn’t actually pick out that paint color — it was on the “mis-tint” rack at Lowe’s for $20. (Speaking of, when the hell did paint go up to $45 a gallon??? Ugh!) However, I will say it adds a nice splash of color, and goes well with the cat/sleeping loft: Wheezer enjoying a nap in the loft without me :( I didn’t take pictures of the new hinges, but it’s nice to have a door that’s not dangling from one lone, unbroken hinge anymore, yay! Wheezer approves, too! And since the door is now working and I can have visitors, I finally got the door sign up: Wheezer doesn’t find the sign as amusing as I do, although honestly, neither of them show the least interest in trying to get out. Seriously, it’s been a year now — they are not interested in the outside world. Except to look at: Wheezer checking out the view thru the kitchen window Madeleine prefers peering out the windshield Both occasionally enjoy the view from the “house” door Sometimes Naomi prefers hanging out outside, so I just loop her tie-out over the side mirror: Naomi on guard!! So, I have learned that traveling with this crew is a bit slower than it might be otherwise (but who cares?), that trying to schedule things too exactly is a fool’s game, and that there are lots of fantastic dog parks in the world :-) In fact, traveling from dog park to dog park might be a GREAT way to see the US! Naomi making friends So, what are you working on???
