[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-10-04 This is a question. I'm in the UK and not able to access news from the hurricane hit areas. A stateside schoolfriend tells me , hearing from locals on the ground in the Carolinas, that it took 7 days for FEMA to get to isolated areas. In the meantime locals organised mule pack trains to bring in supplies of essentials, farmers built bridges, chain saws arrived and volunteers to use them to cut their way through to stranded people, and about 40 private helicopters showed up to assist evacuating vulnerable people and bring in further supplies such as insulin and O2. My friend said that the locals were unlikely to forget feeling neglected by what they perceived as the DC elite and felt like 2nd class citizens. My friend is worried that this will bite the administration on the bum before the election. Can anyone comment? Thanks.
