Pete Rose is dead [1]

83 years old. Pretty full life, although how it went after the gambling thing was not great.

I have been a baseball fan all my life. I was a Yankee fan when they got swept by the Dodgers in 1963. I am still a Yankees fan, will be until the day I die.

My most vivid memory of Pete Rose was the 1976 World Series when the Reds swept the Yankees. Rose spent most of his career with the Reds, but he also won a World Series with the Phillies. The thing that stood out to me was Pete Rose’ insulting arrogance, which he showed to just about every opponent. Especially after he moved to first base, and every time a third out was made on a throw to 1st, he would spike the baseball on the mound. It was a consistent show of disrespect to the opposing team that always pissed me off, no matter who the Reds or Phillies were playing.

For those who think he should be forgiven, and allowed into the Hall of Fame….no. He was a dick. And a rulebreaker, and he agreed to a lifetime ban, which is why he is not, nor should he be in the Hall.
