Trump’s Project 2025 is Bolshevik capitalism [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-09-29 If you want to see the future under a Trump presidency, listen to Anthony Scaramucci, the former president's communications director in his last administration. It will be an autocracy surrounded by ruling oligarchs. Think Putin’s Russia, where communist commissars have been replaced by plutocrats with yachts. I call it Bolshevik capitalism. Scaramucci says that Trump’s 2025 regime will be enforced by the FBI (KGB), which will report directly to the President. 50,000 government workers would be fired and replaced with sycophants whose only qualification would be a Trump loyalty test. Trump’s Project 2025 is a massive plan to overhaul the federal government if a Republican wins in 2024. It was developed by the Heritage Foundation with the help of more than 1000 people, 140 of whom worked in the Trump administration. Kevin Roberts, who leads the Heritage Foundation, said that Project 2025 will be a “second American Revolution that will be bloodless “if the left allows it to be.” Heather Cox Richardson, a history professor at Boston College, joined the growing chorus of analysts criticizing Roberts's comments and policy proposals as being authoritarian. In Letters From an American, her Substack blog, she discussed Roberts's close affiliation with the regime of Victor Orbán, Hungary's strongman leader and Russian President Vladimir Putin's closest ally in the European Union. In her blog, Richardson wrote, "The tight cooperation between Heritage and Orbán illuminates Project 2025, the blueprint for a new kind of government dictated by Trump or a Trump-like figure." Project 2025 is a giant wealth transfer plan. When the plutocrats take over, monopolies flourish. Monopolies contribute to inflation because they have the ability to raise prices in a low-competition environment. "Due to increased market power, firms are earning higher profits by raising prices and paying their workers less, then transferring wealth from consumers and workers to shareholders." You could call this the oligarch tax. Monopolies exacerbate wealth inequality in more subtle ways, too. They disguise themselves as trade associations, professional associations, and union management organizations. It goes all the way back to Adam Smith, “People of the same trade seldom meet together, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.” Your nominal tax rate to the IRS might go down in Trump 2.0, but you’ll pay more to billionaires and their monopolies in the form of higher prices. Think your cost of living is high now? Wait ‘til Trump gets elected. Monopolies create economic power and prevent market entry of competition. That’s bad enough but they also create political power, undermining democracy. In summation, Trump’s Project 2025 is Bolshevik capitalism: oligarchs backed up by the KGB, er, the FBI reporting directly to the President. Somehow we’ve got to get this message out.
