Netanyahu at the UN: From the river to the sea [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-09-28 Just in case it wasn’t obvious enough, Benjamin Netanyahu shares many opinions with Hamas. Both are corrupt as hell. Both oppose democracy. Both support a theocratic ethnostate, and both support ethnic cleansing of the territory “from the river to the sea”. To be sure, Benzion Netanyahu, Benjamin’s father, was one of the pioneers of Revisionist Zionism, an openly fascist movement in the 1920s and 1930s (aligned with Mussolini for a time), and in their view the pure ethnostate was supposed to reach from the Euphrates River to the Nile River, but they’ve backed off since then. Do look at the picture that Netanyahu was displaying at the UN this week. Notice how Israel is drawn. There is no West Bank. There is no Gaza Strip. It runs from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, and there is no Palestinian state or other entity. It is probably a map that Hamas would like too, changing only one label. With some irony, the companion map he later drew out, “The Blessing”, showed the Sunni states from Egypt to the UAE, plus Egypt, though not Israel, in green, though his inclusion of Sudan is a bit optimistic even for him. But that map had a bright red curved line, arrows at both ends. crossing it, covering most of Israel’s claimed turf including Gaza and most of the West Bank. Whether it was meant to be less provocative is a guess, but I doubt it — the idea was that those countries could create a trade corridor to Europe bypassing the “cursed” countries to their north. He isn’t shy about anything.
