And I have studied Spanish as well as Korean. Currently I am teaching English to four young men here in Panama. And through out my 37 years of teaching Social Studies, I came to understand that all teachers are language teachers no matter the department…obviously some way better than others. In no way does any of this make me a language expert any more than any one else. But an eighty year old unable to communicate ideas in a coherent way should be an indication of some serious issues.

In Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin the Pretendsident held a “rally” today. This is a town of less than 6000. But according to AP, he was supposed to “link his Democratic opponent to illegal border crossings”. Instead, according to AP, he “meandered through a list of grievances against Vice President Kamala Harris and other issues”… Shocking, I know. But AP claims he said VP Harris is responsible for “erasing our border”. He went as far to say, ““I will liberate Wisconsin from the mass migrant invasion. We’re going to liberate the country.” I do not think “liberate” is the correct verb here. Defend or protect are better.

But then the AP article got weird. “Trump shifted from topic to topic so quickly that it was hard to keep track of what he meant at times. (Finally, a legit news source mentioned this as a fact) He talked about the two assassination attempts against him and blamed the U.S. Secret Service for not being able to hold a large outdoor rally instead of an event in a smaller indoor space. But he also offered asides about climate change, (If any one has access to his meanderings about climate catastrophe I would welcome the information.) Harris’ father, how his beach body was better than President Joe Biden’s, and a fly that was buzzing near him.” Bolding mine. None of this was directly quoted…except for the FLY thing.

According to AP, he said “I wonder where the fly came from. Two years ago, I wouldn’t have had a fly up here. You’re changing rapidly. But we can’t take it any longer. We can’t take it any longer.” There is no train of thought here as far as I can tell. Perhaps he is somehow stuck to a Pence debate fly issue…but that is unlikely.

I then wonder what the rally attendees hear. What can’t they take any longer? Small insects? Or are they so very under educated that they simply assume that he somehow makes intellectual sense but they are just not smart enough to understand. They can surely understand the racism and he-man-women hating club crap and that may be all they need to vote for this disgrace. It is clear that they have little or no understanding of the math of tariffs. But in-person communication should be clear and understandable even for those of limited education. My only other explanation is the taught-hatred of liberal humanitarianism is so baked in that not only could he shoot someone on 5th avenue, he could probably drink the blood of a live kitten and they would still vote for him.
