Blinken went before Congress and reported that Israel was not blocking aid in direct contradiction to what turned out to be three internal reports that all reached the same conclusion. x .@SecBlinken lied. He needs to resign now. https://t.co/zFCNGitfCI — Rashida Tlaib (@RashidaTlaib) September 26, 2024 The U.S. government’s two foremost authorities on humanitarian assistance concluded this spring that Israel had deliberately blocked deliveries of food and medicine into Gaza. The U.S. Agency for International Development delivered its assessment to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the State Department’s refugees bureau made its stance known to top diplomats in late April. Their conclusion was explosive because U.S. law requires the government to cut off weapons shipments to countries that prevent the delivery of U.S.-backed humanitarian aid — ProPublica The findings of the two US government agencies confirmed the findings of a detailed 17-page memo USAID had sent Blinken a month before. The memo described instances of Israeli interference with aid efforts, including killing aid workers, razing agricultural structures, bombing ambulances and hospitals, sitting on supply depots, and routinely turning away trucks full of food and medicine. — Mother Jones Despite the overwhelming evidence otherwise, Blinken told Congress, “We do not currently assess that the Israeli government is prohibiting or otherwise restricting” aid. This was a bald-faced lie and is in keeping with Blinken’s shameless defense of the indefensible in Gaza and the West Bank. The credibility and image of the US still have not recovered from our illegal war in Iraq, the lies we told to justify it, and the disastrous damage it has done. In the run-up to the Iraq war, many politicians who knew better didn't do the right thing out of fear they would be accused of supporting terrorists. 9/11 was cynically used to justify the unjustifiable by a pack of war criminals. The result? The US was defeated, and strategic enemies of the US now control both Afghanistan and Iraq. At the same time, we created more terrorism, regional instability and less security at the cost of countless innocent lives and trillions of dollars. Starting to sound familiar? We have learned nothing from Iraq Now Blinken lies shamelessly to cover Israel’s ethnic cleansing and genocide, while Netanyahu drags the US into a regional all-out war we do not want. If Netanyahu is not stopped this will be a bigger disaster for the US then Iraq. It could be even worse for Israel. Israeli Reserve General Yitzhak Brik, predicted that: “If the war of attrition against Hamas and Hezbollah continues, Israel will collapse within no more than a year.” Things are further complicated today for Democrats and President Biden as we are in the final stretch of a critical election. This has left the administration paralyzed. Politicians who under other circumstances would have been more aggressive in opposing Netanyahu are fearful of doing anything that might put Kamala in an uncomfortable spot. Netanyahu knows this and is using the freedom it gives him to create a situation on the ground that will be unfixable by November. Bibi did not even pretend to consider the call for a 21-day ceasefire in Lebanon by the US, France and key US allies. He dismissed it out of hand. While Bibi gives a middle finger to Biden’s proposals for dialing down the violence, the US has moved even more troops into the region in response to Netanyahu’s escalation in Lebanon. Everything is going according to plan, but not Biden’s plan, Netanyahu's plan. Netanyahu would like nothing better than to get Trump elected. Netanyahu’s plan for an all-out regional war in the Middle East with American boots on the ground would be just the October surprise that Trump needs to save his crumbling campaign. Allowing Netanyahu a free hand in the run-up to the election could be much more dangerous than confronting him now. A Palestinian American Congresswoman is taking the lead and taking the heat advocating for policies that could save Israel and prevent a repeat of America’s Iraq fiasco. Representative Tlaib is right; Blinken should resign. We can’t allow ourselves to be lied into another deadly clusterf%$k in the Middle East. Netanyahu needs to be constrained and disarmed immediately.
