WisDems Starting Lineup: Meet Brad Pfaff, Democratic incumbent for State Senate District 32 [1]

This year is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reset Wisconsin’s State Legislature, flip a chamber, and open a path to a blue trifecta—because, after years of struggle, democracy defeated the gerrymander. We need to flip red seats, and keep blue seats.

Say hello to Democratic incumbent Brad Pfaff of Wisconsin’s Senate District 32—a seat he’s held since 2021.

Brad Pfaff says, “I learned at a young age on the farm that when you face tough challenges, you pull together as neighbors to get the job done.”

Back in 2020, Brad was elected to SD32 by just 582 votes. With redistricting, SD32, which includes LaCrosse, Onalaska, West Salem, Viroqua, Holmen, Westby, and Sparta, is still a toss-up.

We must reelect Brad Pfaff to keep SD32 out of MAGA hands.

Born in LaCrosse County, Brad Pfaff is a ranking member of the Agriculture and Tourism committee, but before he was elected to the State Senate, he led the @widatcp and was director of business and rural development at the Wisconsin Department of Administration. More on Brad here.

As State Senator, Brad Pfaff fights for reproductive freedoms, access to health care, robust infrastructure, affordable child care and elder care, family farms, rural access to broadband, and more.

Brad met his wife, Betty, at a 4-H leadership luncheon in high school, and they’re proud parents of two college-aged children. Brad has held senior positions with the US Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency, where he worked for the best interest of family farmers.

Brad's deep roots in agriculture go to his core. Another legislator once described Brad Pfaff as “a kid who bleeds manure”—as a warm compliment.

Brad knows rural folks want what everyone wants: freedom, respect, dignity, and opportunity to get ahead through hard work.

If Brad Pfaff wins Senate District 32, the GOP supermajority in the state Senate ends, and the path to a Democratic majority in 2026 grows wider—and with it, the opportunity to put in place statewide protections for reproductive freedom.

Brad’s opponent, Republican Stacey Klein, defends the 1849 WI abortion ban, doesn’t believe abortion qualifies as women’s health care, and downplays the exceptions for rape and incest in abortion laws.

A vote for Republican Stacey Klein is a vote for stripping away reproductive freedoms.

Reelecting State Senator Brad Pfaff is the only way to safeguard SD32 from MAGA extremism.

In Wisconsin this year, we’ve got Dems in 97 out of the 99 Assembly races and all 16 of the Senate races. We support them all. The GOP? Just 84/99 and 11/16.

Our Starting Lineup races are the closest. Wins would end the GOP Assembly majority & break the Senate supermajority.
