Without Rock’s candidacy, thousands or even tens of thousands of Democratic votes for Kamala Harris for President and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell for Senate would have been lost. Now that Florida may in in play for both the Senate and Presidential races, his candidacy, and the thousands of votes it will bring in will bring that goal closer. Rock needs your help. Here’s his ActBlue page. At 27, Rock is a GenZ candidate. But he also a climate scientist, with a Masters in Interdisciplinary Ecology with a specialty in climate science. His Masters Thesis was on Carbon Farming, the process of removing carbon from the atmosphere and storing it in the soil, crop roots, wood, and leaves. Rock Aboujaoude, Jr. Rock has written a Florida Green New Deal, which has gained the support of 50 other candidates for Congress, Florida House and Senate and includes a Resolution and creation of specific task forces to fight climate change. The Resolution states: This resolution emphasizes that addressing climate change is not just an environmental necessity but a fundamental responsibility to protect our way of life, economy, and the future of our children. It recognizes that the impacts of climate change—such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and increasing temperatures—pose direct threats to Floridians’ health, safety, and prosperity. His opponent, incumbent Gus Bilirakis, received a Zero score from the League of Conservation Voters. The contrast could not be clearer. Rock is a Daily Kos member. You can read his stories here. Remember, getting out the vote for Rock also gets out the vote for Harris and Mucarsel-Powell.
