The Violent World View of Donald Trump [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-09-18 One should not be cowed by forces designed to intimidate the speaking of truth. Now, after that pithy statement, Donald Trump is a fascist who would destroy America. The GOP is on a media tour to rid the Democratic machine of speaking the truth. It was Donald Trump who threatened the Constitution. As part of his never-ending refusal to accept his loss to President Joe Biden in 2020, Trump wrote, “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” he speculated. “Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone False & Fraudulent Elections!” It was also Donald Trump who threatened dictatorship for a day. When asked by Fox News’s Sean Hannity to assuage the American people away from his authoritarian tendencies, he said, “No, no, no, other than day one. We’re closing the border, and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.’” Pardon America’s skepticism… Biden-Harris 2024 Spokesperson James Singer responded in a statement. “In his own words, he is promising to rule as a dictator on ‘day one,’ use the military against the American people, punish those who stand against him, condone violence done on his behalf, and put his own revenge and retribution ahead of what is best for America. Bottom line: Trump is a danger to the Constitution and a threat to our democracy,” Singer continued. Republicans are up in arms at the idea that Democratic rhetoric is stoking violence while at the same time ignoring Trump’s blatant calls at his past rallies to punch and have protesters carried out on stretchers. Trump said at a Nevada rally in February of 2016, “I'd like to punch him in the face, I'll tell you,” Mr. Trump said. “You know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in-in a place like this?” Mr. Trump continued. “They'd be carried out on a stretcher, folks.” The timeline of his calls to violence is staggering. Donald Trump was shot at, and the alleged second attempt is being investigated. Although the would-be assassin was at one time a Trump supporter who switched his allegiance to Nikki Haley, Republicans have decided to aim (no pun intended) their fire at VP Kamala Harris. They conveniently wiped their memories, like in a scene from Men in Black. In August of 2016, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Trump told a raucous crowd referring to his then-opponent Hillary Clinton, “If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks,” he said at a rally to boos from the crowd at the mention of Clinton’s name. “Although the Second Amendment people ... maybe there is, I don't know,” he said. His veiled and explicit threats shrouded in an awe-shucks naivety are not meant to fool us but are a permission structure to the crazies that worship him. Setting aside that Trump is currently and repeatedly calling Kamala Harris a Marxist, a Communist, and a Fascist, I would guess his supporters would say his threats were eight years ago, and he has evolved. But wait, In 2023, Mr. Trump posted what he believed to be Barack Obama’s private D.C. address, prompting a heavily armed supporter and January 6th defendant, 37-year-old Taylor Taranto, to camp outside the alleged address of former President Obama. The GOP loves to both sides on an issue, but one thing is true: a leopard does not change its spots, nor does an anti-democracy fascist.
