Kamala Harris Rips Trump a New One Over Spewing Lies and "Racist Tropes" About Springfield, Ohio [1]

Today, Vice-President eviscerated Donald Trump over his lies about Springfield, Ohio, including his baseless inflammatory remarks in the debate.

Charging that Trump is peddling “racist tropes,” she went on to deplore the results of Trump’s and Vance’s vicious and mendacious claims that Haitian residents of Springfield are eating pets in the Ohio town.

"I know that people are deeply troubled by what is happening to that community in Springfield, Ohio, and it’s got to stop,” she admonished the former president and his running mate.

Heather Cox Richardson wrote today:

“Ohio’s Republican governor, Mike DeWine, said that there have been “at least 33” bomb threats against schools and public offices after Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio senator J.D. Vance, spread the lie that Haitian immigrants to Springfield have been eating the pets of their white neighbors. DeWine reiterated that the immigrants in Springfield are there legally, and noted that he has authorized troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol to provide additional security at the district's 18 school buildings.”

The Vice-President lamented the impact of Trump’s and Vance’s dishonesty. “I mean, my heart breaks for this community. You know there were children, elementary school children….A whole community put in fear.”

Harris ripped Trump a new one for abusing his position as former president in the debate by repeating the lie that Vance has been circulating about legal Haitian residents eating dogs and cats. “When you have that kind of microphone in front of you, you really ought to understand how much your words have meaning."
