Kitchen Table Kibitzing ~ 9.16.24 ~ Space, the final frontier [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-09-16 I don’t hear many people talk about it, but 2 astronauts went to the International Space Station for 8 days and now they are “stranded” there for 8 months or so. They are there hanging out with 9 other astronauts (at the time I write this). I’ll leave you a bunch of links for you to go to if you want. And why wouldn’t you? I was only barely interested and spent quite a bit of time reading these links and others. A few things that I learned — the space station is big, the size of Buckingham Palace or an American football field. The astronauts can go all day with seeing anyone else. At night they sleep in a room the size of a phone booth. I thought that was an interesting way to describe it. Sure, my generation knows what a phone booth is, but the kids these days? Doubt it. I read an interview with 3 astronauts who had been to the space station before, and they would gladly go back any time, so I think maybe being “stranded” there is not such a bad thing. www.msn.com/… a little bit about the station www.msn.com/… from the 2 astronauts (They have applied for postal ballots so they can vote in the upcoming US election.) www.nasa.gov/… ISS www.wikihow.com/… how to contact the ISS by HAM radio And they have a fucking twitter page https://x.com/Space_Station Well, they have an everything page. www.nasa.gov/...
