Dark Thoughts, Dark Things [1]

I am old. I don’t have that many years left. And I feel as if I’m watching America—which means everything to me—dying.

I’ve seen a lot in my life, mostly second-hand, but some up close.

And I don’t remember being in this much despair.

In my life, so much has changed. But there seems to be some things that never do.

What is it, really, that drives the Trump voters, that propels MAGA down its wildly destructive, un-American path? What propels their violent hatred of the Democratic Party, a hatred that makes every election a terrifying thrill ride of uncertainty?

Is really “Big Government” or “Wokeism” or whatever bullshit term is circulating within the MAGA insane asylum? Or is it something else?

Why do they hate us?

I can’t use the language they use, but I’ll make it clear.

Starting in the 1960s, the Democrats started to be seen as the PRO-BLACK (Pro-N*****) party.

The Democrats are seen as the PRO-HISPANIC (Pro-S***) party.

The Democrats are seen as the PRO-LGBTQ (Pro F*****) party.

The Democrats celebrate women who stick up for and demand equal rights (The C****.)

Am I being unfair?

Am I being simplistic?

I know a great many variables and factors go into voting decisions. But there seems to be some extremely ugly things at work in 2024 America.

I pride myself on my intellectual sophistication and my deep knowledge of American political history. But for the life of me, trying to figure out why ANYBODY is for the wretched orange psychopath is killing me.

WHAT IS IT?

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHAT IS IT?

Is it really all about the n******, the s****, the f******, and the c****? Is that what it is?

Because if that’s what’s REALLY driving this, if that’s why Trump will STILL probably win a majority of white votes, if that’s why so many men hate us, then less has changed in America than I thought.

And I am having dark thoughts that I can’t get rid of.
