[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-09-15 Yesterday, I wrote about a new Trump book in which he makes the atrocious claim that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may be the son of Fidel Castro. There may be cunning at work in his outrageous, baseless and scabrous statements, intended perhaps to keep him front and center in daily news coverage. However, in my commentary, buried toward the end, I drew attention to how Amazon.com used blatantly over-the-top laudatory and bombastic hyperbole in describing the book, a so-called editorial review and a description of the author, Donald J. Trump. In all likelihood, every word on that page was likely written by Don Jr. or a PR staff member for his publishing firm. Let’s start with the background story of Amazon’s complicity in promoting Trump’s bombastic self-aggrandizing book posted in yesterday’s commentary: The grifter by the way is charging $99.00 ($92.74 on Amazon) for the book, “Save America.” Amazon should be severely taken to task for posting abject hyperbolic Trump campaign propaganda about the book and Trump at the top and bottom of the “buy page.” It’s horrifyingly slavish and inexcusable bombast glorifying Trump and “his next four years in office.” Shameful. The book is published by “Winning Team Publishing,” co-founded and co-owned by Donald Trump, Jr. Amazon should be skewered for printing all their so-called “independent” information on the book that is actually verbiage out of a Trump rally. So let’s go to the deliverables. Here is part of the summary description of the book at the top of the Amazon buy page for “Save America”: In "SAVE AMERICA", President Donald J. Trump offers an unparalleled look into his four years as the 45th President of the United States, and a vision for his next term! "SAVE AMERICA" is filled with iconic moments from the first Trump Administration. From Historic Summits with World Leaders to candid scenes from the White House, every photo has been selected by President Trump, alongside his words, which provide insight into what will shape his next four years in office. Moving on to what are normally outside “Editorial Reviews” on Amazon.com it continues to pile on. For “Save America,” the words were clearly written by Donald Trump Jr or a campaign lackey, and it violates the Amazon.com precedent of only posting independent reviews. Here goes the first part of the “Editorial Review”: DONALD J. TRUMP launched the Most Extraordinary Political Movement in History, dethroning Political Dynasties, defeating the Washington Establishment, and becoming the first True Outsider elected as President of the United States. The Forgotten Men and Women of America were forgotten no more, because the U.S.A finally had a President who PUT AMERICA FIRST! Through his Pro-American Policies on Trade, Taxes, Energy, Regulation, Immigration, and Healthcare, President Trump ushered in a period of Unprecedented Economic Growth, Job Creation, Soaring Wages, and Booming Incomes. Median Household Income reached the Highest Level EVER Recorded. Middle Class Family Income increased more than five times from the previous Administration. Unemployment reached its Lowest Rate in Half a Century. African American, Hispanic American, and Asian American Unemployment reached their Lowest Levels Ever Recorded. President Trump boldly unleashed American Energy, and our Nation soon became the World's Number One Producer of Oil and Natural Gas in the World. Under President Trump, America led the World in reducing Carbon Emissions... Whether it was combating the virus, fighting Foreign Terrorists, creating Jobs, securing America's Borders, unleashing American Energy, revitalizing American Patriotism, or restoring the American Spirit, President Trump never faltered in defense of our Values, our Families, our Traditions, and our Freedom. THE BEST IS YET TO COME! Good grief! However, the Amazon travesty doesn’t end there. Here is the “About the Author” section on the book page. Get ready for this upchuck description of Donald J. Trump, via Amazon.com: Donald J. Trump is the very definition of the American success story, continually setting the standards of excellence while expanding his interests in real estate, sports, and entertainment. He is a graduate of the Wharton School of Finance. An accomplished author, Mr. Trump has authored over fifteen bestsellers and his first book, The Art of the Deal, is considered a business classic and one of the most successful business books of all time. Mr. Trump has over eight million followers on social media and is a frequent guest across a variety of media platforms, Gag me with a spoon, make it three spoons. No word about his felonies or two impeachments, among other deleterious actions. Jeff Bezos is not an Elon Musk. He plays the line pretty much down the middle between both parties, in campaign contributions and public statements. He’s described as a libertarian independent, backing the Democratic positions on most social issues, although he has been critical of Dems at times. However, he is ultimately responsible for the website that made him a billionaire. Otherwise he is complicit in this perversion. I couldn’t find anyway to contact Amazon about this abomination. There is one option under the top summary to “Report an issue with this product or seller,” but it doesn’t really offer an opportunity to express one’s astonishment at Amazon’s negligence or conscious cheerleading for Trump. If you find a more direct way to demand that the blustering, grandiose and turgid description of the book and Trump be changed to neutral language, please put how to contact Amazon in the comments. For now, Amazon continues to pump the book and Trump. As of today, “Save America” is at #784 in sales and rising.
