Friday Night Beer Blog [1]

Hi beer fans, happy Friday! There’s still a week to go before Oktoberfest starts, but I’m getting in the mood.

Bay Area readers: We’ve talked about a meet-up but never got it scheduled. Here’s a chance to come meet Esquimaux and maybe each other — I will be performing with the “Oktober Schlager Band” next weekend:

I’ll be on stage most of the time of course, but come say hi at the break. I’m the tuba player. Oom-pah!!!

There is only one song performed by all 5 of the bands I play in.

I’m starting with Rocktoberfest from Almanac Beer Co (Alameda CA). It’s brewed with German malt and it looks and tastes like the real thing to me!

I had some Sierra Nevada Festbier and wasn’t quite as happy with that. It’s very good beer, SN doesn’t sell bad beer, but it didn’t remind me of Bavaria.

What are you drinking? Anyone brewing?
