A Modest Proposal Redux [1]

Nearly a month ago I posted my first diary – although I signed up for here sixteen years ago (2008). Here is that first publication:

My “modest proposal” was a challenge to readers here who are supporters of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I am renewing that challenge today.

With the debate looming, it looks as if iDJT will show up. When I wrote the diary above, that was questionable. Coward that Trump has proven to be, he may yet make up some reason not to take the stage Tuesday night.

If Donnie participates, I expect that he will lie multiple times. That is where my challenge to you comes in.

I pledge to donate $1.00 to Harris/Walz 2024 for every provable lie that is spewed during any televised debate by iDJT. In the interest of fairness, I will likewise donate $1.00 to Trump/ Bowman Hamel Vance 2024 for every provable lie put forth by Kamala Harris in a similar venue.

I am asking that the folks reading this consider joining me with a $1.00 Per Lie donation, as detailed. I have faith that any lies will come from the “usual suspect” but included Kamala Harris in the interest of fairness.

One person (me) donating would have minimal impact. A dozen…or more ? Much greater impact, obviously.

My publication of the first challenge received a few “likes” and at least one reader said they would contribute based on the above parameters. So, there are two so far.

How “total lies” from both candidates is to be tallied is indeterminate. I can only say that the debate will be very closely watched and reported on. I hope to have several trusted sources to base the total on by averaging reliable sources.

To help make January 20, 2025, the joyful day we are all working towards, I am personally taking other steps beyond donating based on Donnie’s playing fast and loose with facts.

In addition to donating, because we live in Senior Housing, with many residents who no longer drive, I plan on offering rides to anyone who needs help getting out to vote. There are 150 units here, many with two tenants.

I live in a “red” state (Texas), but voter turnout is crucial. Any flyer that I post offering rides will include “no politics will be discussed”, and “no candidate is being endorsed” language. This is essential in my opinion.

I want to be part of the GOTV effort that will be happening across the nation on November 5. I want to do anything possible to prevent Donald J. Trump from returning to the White House.

If Trump sticks to the truth and tells NO LIES, I am going to donate $100 to Harris/Walz – but that is not my request of you.

Ms. LarryMo and I are on fixed incomes now that we are retired. Even the $100.00 minimum that I plan on donating will be a hit to our budget.

But this election is too important not to do everything in our power to help Democratic candidates.
