New York Times Gets ONE Chance to Redeem Itself [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-09-03 Axios is reporting that Vance has agreed to sit down for an interview with the New York Times: JD Vance's "anytime, anywhere" media strategy Campaign sources tell Axios that despite having to defend past comments, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) has signed up for a tough conversation with the N.Y. Times' "The Interview" podcast. Well, Axios thinks it will be a tough interview. They describe Vance as a Yale Law grad who always loved debate, invites questions from reporters on the trail — and plunges into hostile interviews — more often than any of the other three national candidates. They do add that It's not clear it's working. Vance was underwater in favorability — 32%-44% — in an ABC News/Ipsos poll out over the weekend. Actually, I think it’s clear that it’s not working. Every time Vance opens his mouth, his toes tickle his tonsils. And voters are noticing. But Vance is really pitching to an audience of one: the liar-in-chief. The Times, on the other hand, and whether they realize it or not, gets one last chance to start to redeem themselves with this interview. There is so much material to hit Vance with it’s hard to know where to begin — and if they don’t use even some of it, then that too will be clear.
