More crap journalism from the NYT in a fluff piece on Moms for Liberty [1]

Yeah, we all like to pick on the New York Times for their frequent descent into crap journalism that normalizes fascism and minimizes how weird and dangerous the far right and the MAGA movement are.

Well, they’ve done it again, this time in a piece on the mis-named Moms for Liberty. You know it’s going to be bad just from the headline:

Conservative Moms, Charmed by Trump, Would Rather Avoid His Misogyny

And you know it is going to be every bit as bad as expected when the second full paragraph in the story begins with this:

It was the Joyful Warriors summit thrown by a bunch of agitated parents known as the Moms for Liberty

However, any hope that I might learn anything of value from the article ended as soon as I got to this line:

The Moms For Liberty can get a bit carried away — one of their local chapters once accidentally quoted Adolf Hitler

What the actual f**k? I guess some sort of congratulations are in order to the “journalist” who wrote this piece of garbage in that they managed the amazing task of minimizing Hitler and modern right-wing extremists in a single sentence.

I quit reading once I got to that line in the article, because it is hard to care about the observations of someone who thinks that quoting Hitler is just getting “a bit carried away”. But for anyone who is masochistic enough to want to read more, here is the article via Yahoo News so that you don’t have to contend with the NYT’s paywall.
