[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-08-31 I suspect, one day, you’ll hear more about Abigail Salisbury. At present, she is serving in the Pennsylvania State Legislature, taking the place of Summer Lee, who is now serving in Congress. In time, she may go on to higher offices. She went to the Democratic Convention as a delegate and sent back pictures to her Facebook feed, including some photos of Tim Walz, the Democratic candidate for Vice President. In amongst the likes, there were comments from a man who called Walz a “creeper”. He claimed the governor of Minnesota was a pedophile. He offered no evidence, of course. But he’d seen it someplace online. (I’m sure, if you look online, you’ll find someone saying that J.D. Vance is an alien from the Crab Nebula. That doesn’t mean it’s true.) That’s how the Republicans seem to operate. They go personal. I am sure that, while serving as governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz must have done some things the Republicans don’t approve of. But, so far, the only thing he did that they seem to mind, is that he signed a bill that put free sanitary supplies in boys and girls restrooms, meaning that somewhere in Minnesota, some transgendered teen, might have used a tampon she found in the boy’s room. Walz didn’t write the bill. He just signed it. But they’re calling him Tampon Tim. Certainly, he must have signed some other bills the Republicans didn’t like. Did he fund public libraries? Raise pay for teachers? Ban discrimination against Gays? Raise taxes for rich people? Pass some sane gun laws? Did he make any speeches saying undocumented immigrants aren’t a threat to public safety? or banning books is evil? Did he go to a pride parade? Attend a Juneteenth celebration? Say Black lives matter? Surely he must have done some things the Republicans can claim are a threat to freedom and public safety. But they don’t seem to want to go after him on issues. Instead, they’re complaining about his dog, Scout, who looks too cute for words. They talk about his “stolen valor”. Meaning he served in the National Guard for several years, but never served in combat. J.D. Vance was a Marine, who also never served in combat either. They’re attacking his kid, which is hitting below the belt. They’re calling him a creeper. The Republican Party’s chief goal is to make rich people richer. Very few people will vote for candidates whose sole mission in life is to make billionaires more billions. So, Republicans focus on non issues, like trans gendered teens, library books or the latest Disney movie. Tim Walz is a decent guy, who has served the people of his state for a number of years, and will, if elected, be a good vice president. Which makes him dangerous to Republicans. So, they make stuff up. Look for more ugly rumors about him to turn up in your newsfeed, and be sure to ignore them.
